Hello,
I have recently purchased a router for official purpose but cannot connect the pc via the router.
This really very important for me to make it connect as quickly for the job purpose and I want someone to help me do it.
Please someone kindly instruct me about the method, and I will be grateful.

Got a router but cannot connect the pc to it
Hi there Frank,
It would be much more helpful if I knew the brand of the router you recently purchased.
And is it a wireless router or a standard router?
Here are the troubleshooting steps on how to connect your computer to the router:
For Windows 7 Users:
-
Click on Start button and click on “RUN”, type CMD then press ENTER.
-
On the C prompt (C:/> ) type IPCONFIG then press ENTER.
Now the IP Address and DEFAULT GATEWAY information make sure that all the information is correct. Depends on the router that you are using, but there are standard IP Addresses such as 192.168.1.1 you can type the IP Address in the DEFAULT GATEWAY.
All computers that are connected to the router must have the same IP Address, and better yet you can just locate the settings of your LAN and go to the TCP/IP settings.
-
Go to the START Menu.
-
Click on Control Panel.
-
Choose the Network and Internet option.
-
Click the NETWORK and SHARING CENTER.
-
Click the Manage Network Connection, Click Change Adapter Settings on the left hand side of your screen.
-
Then choose the network that you are using (LAN) right click on it.
-
Next Choose Properties from the drop down menu.
-
You will see the TCP/IP (V4) choose that and at the General Tab, tick the “obtain an IP V4 automatically”, and then click OK.
-
Go to the start menu and click the RUN button and type CMD at the C Prompt (C:/> ) type ipconfig and press enter. ·
Windows XP:
-
Go to Start button and click on My Network Places.
-
Right click and click on Properties.
-
Right click on Local Area Connection then click on Properties.
-
General tab choose the “Obtain IP Address automatically”.
-
Reboot your computer.
-
Go to the web browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 and press enter.
-
You should see the router settings from here.
-
If this doesn’t work try to reset the router to its factory defaults.
-
Then go to Start choose Run and type CMD and type IPCONFIG/ALL.
-
If your router has a hybrid capable, try using switching to that feature.
-
FIREWALL.
-
Check if there is a problem with your firewall you may disable it temporarily until you can connect your Router to your Computer.
If you still can’t connect your pc to your router, try to reset the router to factory default. Connect the computer to the LAN/Network Port with an Ethernet cable. Reboot the computer. Open your web browser and type in 192.168.1.1 in to the address bar and press enter. The router settings should show on your screen.
If this doesn’t work, go to start, click run and type CMD press enter. Type IPCONFIG/ALL press enter, if your IP Address shows 0.0.0.0 and the default gateway is 0.0.0.0 there might be something wrong with your router or check your cables if they are all properly connected and are in good condition.
Try reinstalling your router to your computer and reset the router to its factory defaults before you reinstall it. And repeat the steps open your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. If you are using a wireless router always make sure to register all devices to the router so your computer can connect to the network successfully.
Got a router but cannot connect the pc to it
Hi Frank,
It would be easy for me to explain the connection if you have mentioned the type of the router.
Here I will try to explain you the connection between Ethernet devices and a network to an Integrated Services Router (ISRs).
Before you connect your router to any devices, please check the following points:
1. The first step is to install the router.
2. Before connecting devices to your router, make sure that the devices and router are power off until the connections are completed. This step will prevent your router from damage.
Do not turn on until all the connections are completed. How to connect PC to a router??
Follow the instruction while connecting PC to an Ethernet switch port.
Connect one end of the yellow cable to a switch port on the router and the other end of the cable to the network interface card (NIC) that is already installed in the PC.
You can connect additional servers or PCs to the other Ethernet switch ports, but it is optional.
These are the basic connections but if you need to know about the other connections related to the router,
Hope this will be helpful to you.
Thanks and Regards
