Linux partition computation is more beneficial in couple of reasons, one of them is no fragmentation. Although fragmentation exists it's so rare so it's irrelevant. I posted some links so you can get better picture of it. Most popular Linux formats are ext4 and ext3 so you can consider using one of them.
