A popular application on Facebook called Pinterest is facing a huge decrease of followers last month.

Is this the result of disallowing the users to make multiple accounts?

Hi Brian,

Maybe but Pinterest etiquette did not say so.  I will give details of their rules:

1.  Sourcing the original link is the unspoken cardinal rule to give credit to the original image or link or any source.

2.  Don't trick the user to follow incorrect links.( There are many tricks like that on Facebook links and the result sometimes is virus.) What they mean here is that if is redirected to another blog or links for more credit.

3.  Write a full caption – Authentic communication not advertorial.

4.  Don't become a pin addict-  high quality is important, don't just post anything.

5. Think of Whom you share with – If you sync with Facebook, twitter and other media accounts, what you share will be on those flat form, and any update could be nuisance to them, just be careful when you share.

6.  Don't be stingy with interaction – Even a simple like and short comments

7. Be respectful – Don't insult others or use unprofessional language

8.  Report objectionable content – Report offensive content.

Followers Of Pinterest Decreases Followers due to Creating Multiple Accounts

I do not think that Pinterest is experiencing a slow decrease of followers but on the contrary.

According to an article in the Realtime Report website Pinterest followers actually increased by 32-60%. I think they are just meticulously organizing their followers so that the only followers they have are serious followers not just people who created an account got invited then suddenly not visit Pinterest anymore and forget about it. 

Pinterest is just a new service so the number of followers are still not as groundbreaking as it was supposed to be.

But expect its user-base to grow exponentially in the following months since they are going to fully propagate their marketing methods anytime soon.

Let’s all wait and see.
