Excel, Ms word document and folders. Those are the files i saved in my laptop computer. This morning, i open one of my files and as i have noticed the file was not there. I check the folders but the folders are empty? I search the files but the result turns zero?! I click the folder options and enable the show hidden files but it's not working! I restart the computer still the files are not there?

What is the problem of this? Is my computer had a problem? Is my laptop had a virus? I have Antivirus software then how could the virus detect on my computer? Help me to find the hidden files for its very important.

Thanks

Hey, Trick here.

If you are absolutely sure that you have the files saved in your laptop computer and no crashes error happened when you shut down your computer or while running it, there's a possibility you are hit by a Virus that hides your files and turns them into a type of file important for Windows and won't appear even with showing hidden files. Here's something you can try that could let you see your files and recover them:

  1. Go to Folder Options then View tab.
  2. Look for "Hide protected operating system files(Recommended)"
  3. Uncheck it and "Apply"

The file should go back and you can go back them up. If this doesn't work, there is a possibility that the file has been removed for some reason and is no longer recoverable.

If you can remember the direction and the file name, go to “Run” and execute the file. If the file opened, we can enable visibility of the file by using the Command prompt. Follow pictures.

( This is an example : how to show a hidden file. We are going to show a “z” word document in x folder in c drive )
