Germany has reopened an investigation into Facebook Inc. over the photo tagging feature which appears to be breaking the country’s privacy laws.
So at issue is a database facebook has compiled by digitally scanned it’s user faces. Which allows them to identify users in facebook photos and alert them of photo tagging.

Facebook Facial Recognition tool is very popular in the US but recently the feature was terminated in the Europe. The reasons for withdraw from Europe is because the app does not meet the minimum privacy laws requirements. This feature has attracted several apps that now can recognize face. It works in that when users tag another users photo that has been uploaded on Facebook, the Facebook Facial Recognition service can store users identity that uniquely identify a user. Thereafter Facebook is able to suggest “tags” of uploaded pictures with user names.

I guess that tool is already running on Facebook. It is actually not a tool a user can use and select from his account. It only works when you upload photos with recognizable people faces. When you upload a photo, Facebook will try to recognize the face and allows you to tag which of your friends it is by entering his name on the face.
But sometimes even if faces are visible on the picture, the feature doesn’t recognize them. I’ve seen a lot of my friends’ pictures with visible faces but not all can be tagged. You will know this feature is working when you upload your picture like a selfie and then a small box appears when you hover your mouse over your face.
You can then enter your name on the box to tag your self and that’s how the facial recognition on Facebook works. If there are many faces on the picture, if the feature can recognize them, you can enter the name of the person on their faces to tag them individually.
