Lync is an application that supports Microsoft Windows operating systems. The current version of it is called Lync 2013. This platform is compatible with desktop, laptop, tablet, smart phones and touch screen applications. It supports voice and video chat, IM, video conference, online meetings etc.

Until mid of 2012, there was no way to synchronize Skype and Lync. Speculations were there that Microsoft will take initiative to allow federation between these two. Microsoft had no way not to synchronize Lync with Skype as Skype is considered as the largest universal VoIP channel. Recently they have allowed federation between Skype and Lync. However, they are still in the process of optimizing it as many users are experiencing errors and getting bugs. We better not go into any complex process and let the Microsoft optimize it for our future use.
