Hi,

I was asked by the top management for some data on my search at the application we are using. All the required data  is not available on one look. I must hop on every type of reports to arrived on the desired format that will be exported to. So I decided to just import data from Sybase to excel, on my exporting process an error occurred  that I pasted below.

Microsoft Office Excel cannot use the number format you typed.

Try using one of the built-in number formats. On the format menu, click Cells, and then click the Number tab. Select the category you want, and then

Choose other options.

For more information about custom number formats, click Help.

On my analysis of this problem, it involves format of the data from Sybase going to excel. It seems excel will not accept it because of its format. Please help me find ways on formatting my data from Sybase to excel.

Thanks.

Hello there,

MS Excel is quite sensitive and particular with regards to the data that will be entered on the cell, it will follow the format that the cell is declared in the Format Cell menu. Try to format the excel cell as text format. In this option, the data will be treated as text even when a number is in the cell. The cell is displayed as exactly as entered. Select the cell and right click on it, choose format cell on the Number tab, choose Text.

If this still did not work, try to download a software converter such as Excel Sybase Anywhere Import,Export & Convert Software.
