ERROR_INVALID_PATCH_XML 1650 The XML patch data is invalid. Available beginning with Windows Installer version 3.0.

Hi, I am trying to install a new template, the Magneto Absolute theme. But when I try to change the layout code, it gives me an error saying the XML data is invalid. Does anyone know how to solve this?

As I am new to Magneto, if someone would happen to have a solution for this as much as possible make it simple for me.

Hallo Green,

Can you just do the installation without changing the layout code? For it seems like the error is occurring when you make changes to the layout code. The changes you are making may be altering the code wrongly and as a result causing the installation problem that you are getting.

Dear green scott,

This error is come mainly caused by an error which occurs when a program is installed. This error is classified in the Microsoft website as:

ERROR_INVALID_PATCH_XML 1650 (0x672) Description: The XML update data is invalid.

Try closing all the running programs from Task Manager and then begin again to install it. To open the Task Manager, right click on an empty space in the taskbar, and select Task Manager.
