It’s quite confusing as to what you are really trying to do. But if you want to enable automatic updates on your Windows, you can do that by enabling Windows Automatic Updates in the Control Panel. To do that, click Start then Control Panel. In the available categories, select Security Center. In Windows Security Center window under Automatic Updates, click “Turn on Automatic Updates”.

This will now alert you if an update is available for your operating system. And also if you wish to show available updates for the applications presently installed on your computer, you may try doing it inside Add or Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel. Click Start then Control Panel. Select Add or Remove Programs. In the Add or Remove Programs window on the upper part opposite to “Currently installed programs and updates”, check “Show updates”.
