Error when configuring VMware via vCLI Perl scripts

Hi Gurus,

I was remotely configuring our VMware via vCLI Perl scripts when I got this error message, see screenshot below.

The message is a bit confusing because I wasn’t installing any program. Where can I find the missing dll file?

Any advice on how to fix this error?

Please help.

VMware-PERL.EXE – System Error

PERL.EXE – System Error

The program can’t start because libxml2.dll is missing from your

computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

No, the error wasn't about installing any application. It means that you can not do the configuration remotely from your current location because the application you are using can’t start because of a missing dll file, libxml2.dll. It is either the file is really missing or just corrupted which of the 2.

Run a disk check on your computer to see if there is any error in the file structures of the hard drive that might cause this unexpected error. If you have your own disk utility run it instead, else just use Windows disk check.

  1. Right click on drive C and then select Properties.
  2. Click Tools tab.
  3. Click Check Now.
  4. Check Automatically fix file system errors and then click Start.

After the disk run the program again. If nothing has changed, uninstall the application vCLI Perl and then install it back afterwards.
