I am trying to change the default app from Totem to a SMPlayer with a newly installed Ubuntu 11.10 but an error appears stating "SMPlayer" as default application: Can't create user application configuration folder /home/manu/.local/share/applications: Not a directory".

This is a application for my AVI files. Please help me resolve it.

Thanks in advance.

When someone proven to replace the failure curative for AVI files from Totem to SMPlayer, a mistake came up with the warning that says, "Could not set as default”.

Fault while situation "SMPlayer" as defaulting cure: Can't create somebody exertion plan folder /home/manu/.local/share/applications:

Do the followings:

  1. Shift the (~/.local/share/applications File) to whatsoever else place. You can cut the said Record.
  2. Currently, try erst again to modify defaults, it should make over OK. If for whatever considers it didn't convert, puddle careful that there is a directory named 'applications' inner (~/.local/share/) or else make one. That should reckon it.
