Error of a program interfering with other installations

Hi all,

This program is often interfering with other installations.

 

Whenever I install something, I get the following error message, which obviously is no good!

An error occurred
The following details are provided:

E: miktex-tools: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Close

 

Is there a way I can make this go away?

Error of a program interfering with other installations

Hello Mary,

The reason why you are getting that error is because of the package manager you are using.

You should therefore run the installation through a proper package manager as much as possible so that all the files will automatically go to the right places.

When you use the right package manager also, the files will be updates automatically when a new version is released.

A package I will recommend is Sistyle, which you can find in the texlive-science package in synaptic.

All you will need to do is click so as to run the package installation and then it will go into the right directories by itself.
