Portal hl2.exe application shows unknown exception

Hi there,

I have installed the game Portal 2 when I tried to launch it I got this error message box. I tried to reinstall it, rebooted the PC and still got this error. Can anyone help me to play this game ? Can this error be fixed and how can I prevent it in the future with next games ?

Hello There,

Usually this kind of abrupt crash is related to pirated or cracked version usage, but as you are commenting on this forum, I believe you don’t use or encourage usage of pirated softwares.

Now, check your graphics , does it use shared memory or it is a graphics card

If it is shared memory, then this problem is most likely to happen, however for both the cases follow –

1. Try to clean up memory, close some programs and relaunch the game

2. Analyze whether it crashes often or it was just an incident.

3. Else restart and try

4. Follow support generic instructions, click on this link

5. Reach support for help , if issue is not solved
