Error message shown while clicking a hyperlink in MS Word

 I use MS-Office 2010. When I click on a hyperlink in MS-Word to go to the url, it gives me an error message which says – 'The operation cannot be completed because of the restrictions made to this computer. Contact administrator'. As I am the administrator, I never make any restrictions. How does this happen? Please help me to get out of this problem.

Hello there! What windows and browser are you using? This error usually happens when your default browser is not Internet Explorer or due to broen .html, http or https file protocol if your are using Internet Explorer as a default browser. If you are using Windows XP, you can fix the restriction error by going to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults > Custom > Choose a default Web browser. Select Internet Explorer as your default web browser and then click OK. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, go to Start > Default Programs > Set Program Access and Computer Defaults > Custom > Internet Explorer > OK.

Hello Byrony,

Maybe the ms office 2010 that you are using is a trial version and it does not allow for the action that you are trying to perform which is accessing the hyperlink from the ms word to take place. Or may be the administrator account that you are using has been disabled some privileges including the one for accessing the hyperlinks.

You will need to confirm the account settings of your account and ensure that you have the privileges to read, write and modify contents. Enable them if you might have disables them by any chance, or someone else who used the system might have disabled the settings without your knowledge.
