Error message on an Acer monitor

I am having problems with my monitor (Acer S240HLBID), attached to an HP Pavilion with Windows 7. Yesterday I tweaked with the settings a bit (mainly changed the resolution and luminosity), and the screen went black with an error message stating “input not supported” appearing almost immediately. I turned the computer off using another monitor, and then tried to use my Acer monitor. It won’t work and the error message appeared again. What could the problem be?

Hi Donald, probably when you “tweaked” the resolution, it’s not compatible with the monitor. This indicates that the monitor is receiving information from the computer but not its native resolution. So check the monitor’s manual, then upon turning up the computer, press F8 or esc, boot into safe mode, then you can change the the display settings, to the one supported by your monitor, or if you cannot access the monitor’s manual, just try a low resolution, then shut it down again. The display setting of your monitor will revert to its supported display.
