Error Code: VAN 6 Connection Error

The full error reads:

“VALORANT has encountered a connection error. Please relaunch the client to reconnect.
Error Code: VAN 6”

If you encounter error code “VAN 6” when playing Valorant, first option is to enable the VGC service. Press the Windows key + R to open the “Run” dialog then type without quotes “msconfig” and then hit Enter. Next, go to “Services” tab then locate “vgc.” Make sure it is checked then click “OK.”

Again, press the Windows key + R to open the “Run” dialog then type without quotes “services.msc” and then hit Enter. Next, locate the “vgc” service then double-click it to open the “Properties.” In the properties window, set “Startup Type” to “Automatic” then click “Apply” and then “OK.” After this, click “Start” to start the service manually.

If this doesn’t work, try updating your video card driver. See the following list of manufacturers:

If the problem continues, try doing a half reinstall. Press the Windows key then type without quotes “cmd” in the search field. Right-click “cmd.exe” in the search results then select “Run as administrator” to launch an elevated command prompt. In the command prompt window, type the following commands then hit Enter after each command:

sc delete vgc
sc delete vgk

When you are finished, restart the computer. After booting, open Windows Explorer then navigate to “C:\Program Files.” Locate the “Riot Vanguard” folder and delete it. After this, right-click the Valorant icon on your desktop and select “Run as administrator.” This will automatically reinstall Riot Vanguard. When installation is complete, click “Play.” After this, you might receive the following message:

“Vanguard not initialized”

Click “Quit” then restart the computer. After booting, launch Valorant again then see if it works.
