To solve your problem you have to follow these easy steps:

1) First of all check that what version of messenger is installed on your machine & if it is an older version than you need to upgrade it to the newer version this may fix this problem.

2) If the problem still don’t fix than you have to clean your cache memory for the messenger to do so you have to follow these steps:

i) If you have windows xp or 2000 than click on start menu from this choose the run menu than type cmd command & than click on OK a command window will appear.

ii) If you have installed windows 98 or ME than click on start button, click button, here you have to type command & than click on OK.

iii) Now on the command prompt window you have to type the following commands after every command line & than press enter.

cd

cd %appdata%microsoft
cd "msn messenger"
del /s listcache.dat3)

3) You simply try to log in your windows live messenger again.
