Error in applying Fix Pack or CCH to Lotus Notes

Hi guys,

If you make an attempt to apply a fix pack (FP) or cumulative client hotfix (CCH) to Lotus Notes on USB you will get the following error message:

It seems that the error message says, the installer is missing some registry keys and does not know, where to install the hotfix. But that´s not illogical, cause Nomad does not create any entry in your registry.

The thing I know is that to upgrade / install fixes on Lotus Notes on USB is to create the necessary registry keys for short time. Unluckily, the value given by the error message above is not right, you need to create the following values instead:


DataPath=<Path to Lotus Notes Data Directory>

Path=<Path to Lotus Notes Program Directory>

I will be stuck if there is any solution about executing the hotfix installer with special parameters?

So help is urgently needed. Thanks for reply.


The Lotus Notes registry key does not specify the correct location of Lotus Notes. Please check

Error in applying Fix Pack or CCH to Lotus Notes


This is a known fault and an interim fix that solves the issue is already available. This problem is already fixed in 8.5.2 Fix Pack 3 and 8.5.3. Direct download of the link is here: direct download

There is a specifically designed Interim Fix Installer for IBM Lotus iNotes 8.5.2 Fix Pack 2 ActiveX MSI which is used for Domino servers running the 8.5.2 FP2. It is proven that it will not interfere with Interim Fix 401.8HF6 that was previously released from the same version, and also it will not interfere with the other interim fixes in the future. You will be directed with the IBM Support: Fix Central page. Choose your Product and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please follow below on how to install the Interim Fix: (this is for all platforms)

  • The Domino Server must be shut down
  • Locate the directory: datadominohtml
  • Delete the IBM_Lotus_iNotes_ActiveX_Installer_8.5.2*.msi files (for all language files)
  • The contents of the chosen downloaded ZIP file must be extracted to the directory datadominohtml
  • You can now start the Domino Server
