Error on 3ds Max 2011 “Software License Checkout Failed Error 20”

I have just installed Windows 7 on my machine. I am trying to install Autodesk 3ds Max 2011 (32 bit). When I tried to install Autodesk 3d Max 2011, instead of its name that should be displayed on the Start menu, it would say Change Graphical Settings. I have also noticed, that, when I open the application, it would try to load up but after a while an error would pop up saying "Software License Checkout Failed: Error 20". After getting that error message, the loading stops and eventually closes the application. I already tried to reinstall the application, however, that did not do help at all.

I would really appreciate your suggestions to resolve this issue. Any suggestion will do, as long as, it helps me fix this error and continue with my work. Thank you for the assistance.

You should verify if you already entered your registration code and you are not using a trial version of Autodesk 3ds Max. If the program you are using is a trial version, it’s possible that its trial period has already been exhausted. This would really make the program to stop working since its test period has already expired.

But if you are sure that Autodesk 3ds Max has already your license code then maybe it got corrupted for unknown reason. If this is the case, try deleting the license file. First, change some settings in the Folder Options to make hidden files and folders visible in Windows Explorer. When this is done, go to this location on your system drive: C:Documents and SettingsAll Usersapplications dataAutodeskSoftware Licenses. Just delete the file that you’ll see inside and then open again the program.

Hello Valerie,

To resolve the issue that you are getting, you will need to try the following workaround:

  • You will need to rename the following files: “adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data” and “adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data.backup.001”.
  • When you do that,  MAX will be able to create new files to replace them.
  • Note that for Windows 7 users, those files can be found at the following location: “C:ProgramDataFLEXnet” directory.
  • After that you will restart MAX and then go through the activation procedure again.
  • So you will need to have that information saved somewhere for instance in a text file on your computer.
  • Also, MAX saves a copy in an .html file for you somewhere in your user directory, so just check that.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carl

Hi,

To solve this problem, follow the procedure below:

1. Uninstall the program and delete the ProductInformation.pit and CascadeInfo.ca files from C:ProgramDataAutodeskAdlm.

2. Restart your PC and reinstall the software .

3. If that’s not working then you have to disable “FLEXnet Licensing Service”.

Try and see it that problem solve or not.

Good Luck.

Sometimes, the previous register key and license key creates problems when licensing again, and sometimes it shows many types of error reports.

It is better for you to uninstall the Autodesk 3ds Max 2011, then use a registry cleaner software to clean all of the registry keys.

Then, restart your computer. Now try again, and you will be able to install it easily.

Now, enjoy it.

If you were successful in installing Autodesk 3ds Max on your PC, the problem is only license. So just try deleting the registration file. For more information visit this Techyv page.
