I need to split a movie file so I can burn it with my DVD-R disk. What software can I use to for this? When I encode DVD to MP4 this error appears: “Error -2041: An invalid sample description was found in the movie.” And also, I cannot play any videos on QuickTime Player. How can I adjust the settings for this? Help please.

There are several softwares that you can find on the internet for splitting video files but I will recommend that you try using the following:

  1. Easy Video Splitter, which you can find by accessing the following site: http://download.cnet.com/Easy-Video-Splitter/3000-13631_4-10176687.html. The application is extremely easy to use and will offer you a high degree of control over the chopping process. You will find its interface to be aesthetically pleasing and it provides a large preview window on its left side. You can use it to AVI, WMV, or MPEG video files, and you can also be able to choose the stop and end points of your segment by simply clicking two icons.
  2. Another application that I will recommend is HJsplit. This one too you can get for free on the internet, you will just need to Google or your favorite search engine and look for it.
