Dear James,

I have read your question and I understand that you have a windows installer error which could happen if you install or uninstall a program or even windows update so this error means that windows installer is damaged and to fix this you need to follow certain commands:

1 – To start the windows installer in order to fix the corrupted file

Click on start then run then type Services.msc

If you are using windows 7 or vista just click on start then type Services.msc

A window will appear, search for windows installer by scrolling down then double click on it

Another window will appear, make sure the startup type is set to manual

Now click on start then ok.

2 – To register the windows installer file again

Click on start menu

Click on run then type cmd to open the command prompt then ok (black windows)

If you are running windows 7 or vista just click on start and in the search field just type cmd then the screen will appear

Now type MSIEXEC/UNREGISTER then enter

Again type MSIEXEC/REGSERV close the cmd then reboot the computer

Try your windows installer again

3 – To run a windows file scan

Click on start then cmd

Type sfc /scannow

Wait for the scan to begin and when it is completed, close the black screen then reboot your computer

Now try windows installer again

Best of luck

This problem may be occurring because of one of the following conditions:

1. The Windows Installer files which are on your computer are missing or damaged.

2. You removed or installed a program that uses the Windows Installer Microsoft Software Installation package file.

EX: – This problem can occur when you try to install MS-Office on your computer.

To solve this problem, you can use the following:

1. You can reregister the Windows Installer

2. You can reinstall the Windows Installer

Either way, your problem should be solved.
