Error 1402 Installing BB Desktop Software on Windows 7

Hello,

I have a question that may seem trivial to you but it is serrious for me.

I tried to install Blackberry Desktop Software 5 on my Windows 7 OS computer and got the following error:

Error 1402. Could not open key:

BlackBerry Desktop Software 5.0 Installer Information

UNKNOWNComponentsDA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE80002119F20000000000000000F01FEC. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

I tried to change the permissions but failed again. Do I need to reset the permissions and if so, how do I do that?

Error 1402 Installing BB Desktop Software on Windows 7

Hello Lilian,

I suspect that you are using the wrong version of the black berry application during the installation and that is why you are getting that kind of error message. That is why it is telling that you do not have sufficient privileges to access the key, which I think means that the registry entries that are in the application cannot be used on the black berry phone you are trying to install it on.

So I will advise that you check the specifications of your blackberry and then download the right software that suits those applications and see if the problem will be solved.
