I am using Unix Server and is in a process of documenting server builds. Can anyone send me a standard template or existing server builds document for a reference.

Hi John Timson,

Firstly, you need to decide document standards, organization requirements.

Then decide cost, it is important to achieve maximum efficiency.

Costs include operator's time for keying information, checking and correcting, stationary, etc.

Then you need to decide the types of documents you want to include like,

Spreadsheets and databases, letters, memorandums, faxes, brochures, flyers and Display materials, policies and procedures, financial statements, invoices and orders, tables, newsletters, agendas, etc.

This is just a sample of the types of documents that might be produced by a business organization or an individual.

Documents are key internal and external tools of communication with people or users. So consistency and standards of information are required to ensure desired message is given.

Then decide appropriate technology for now and for future.

Complete the checklist of self assessment whether you are ready to move further or not.
