Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron N411Z and I connected an external display which worked fine for about a week. Then I unplugged it for a few days and on returning it, it doesn’t pick the signal. It is connected via HDMI to DVI. I tried it on another computer and it worked so why can’t it work on my Dell?

Hello,

I think this is causing for a missing driver. So you can try this. First uninstall the ATI related drivers.

Then download a new suitable display driver for your laptop.

You have to download display driver before you download ATI Radeon.

To sure you have this problem right click on my computer then go to properties then look at the missing drivers (Icon is a “?” mark it will show you the missing drivers with an exclamation mark). Look for a basic display driver your choice. I think AtI is a good one.

There's also some problem with the external display. The problem might be on the “DVI” port. Make sure that the ‘DVI’ port is ok. You can try another “HDMI to DVI” check every pin of the “DVI” port of the external display. If some pin is broken it will not work.

If every thing is ok than fit it carefully and try again.
