Hey techyV experts,

I installed a Roxio Creator 2010, on my laptop running on Windows XP SP2. I successfully installed it and was able to run the program without any problem at first. But, when I opened it for the second time, this error message is displayed on my screen:

Client Security Solution

The instance of cassauth. exe cannot start because of an initialization error.

I also noticed that my computer began to slow and hang frequently. I’m not sure if the software installation caused this problem. Every time I open Roxio Creator, this error dialog box keeps popping on my screen.

What could be the cause of an initialization error? Can someone help me solve this problem?

Thanks.

Initialization error usually occurs when you start a program, which means an application failed to initialize a process.

  1. Program may be outdated – with this, you need to update but in some instances you may have used the wrong driver, which is not supposed to be used for the program in use. In this case, when you run a certain program initialization surely occurs. So, you have to make sure of this when updating your program.
  2. Program is infected by Virus – make sure your Antivirus is updated and your system is regularly scanned because virus and bugs surely affect applications from working normally.
  3. Hard disk problem – you need to run chkdsk command, to check if there is a physical problem in your hard disk. All programs reside in hard disk. So if infected, your program might experience an initialization or other *.exe error. You mentioned above, as observed your computer hang-up and slow in process.

    • With this, you need to remove unnecessary programs which just consume hard disk space. For doing so, Go to Start / Settings/ Control Panel / Add Remove Programs. Here check programs, you think you're not using anymore or are unhelpful to you.
  4. Registry problems – ensure regular scanning and cleaning.

Or, you may run msconfig. By doing so, go to Run / type msconfig / uncheck cassauth. exe in Startup Tab, then reboot your PC
