What will you do if you changed the server into DC if you are assigning to locate the remote with slow WAN link? And could it be effective to remove AD from a server? And what would you do afterwards?

Actually it’s a very complicated thing that you are trying to accomplish here. These are not the regular settings that most people use unless there is an extreme need to use such scenarios in real life situations. Still if you need to work it out then see the steps below.

  1. Make sure that you backup all the data from the server before converting it to DC.
  2. Read anything about the DC to see what are the pros and cons of converting it to DC because I think that it is irreversible if you do the conversion.
  3. After that if you think that you can handle it, and then start the conversion.
  4. Make sure that nothing interrupts the whole process since if it happens; you have to start the whole thing again.
  5. After that, use the backup to match the converted data to see if there is any misplaced thing during the conversion.
  6. As I said, I would never do such thing myself so there is no need for it.
