Changing Laptops RAM to highest memory

Im planning to upgrade my computers memory/RAM and I need some advice or tips from you.Do I need to fill all of my laptops RAM slot or I need to leave atleast one slot ? what is the difference between them?

Hi Alfred Martin,

     You can always buy a new stick of RAM to increase the RAM memory in your laptop, but the question is how much memory can we buy? All of it actually depends on your laptop. You see, the motherboard of your laptop has a limit as how much memory it is capable of. If you do not know how much memory it is capable, a then refer to its manufacturer’s site. There you can probably search the model of your laptop as well as its specifications. After that, you would then have an idea how much RAM to buy. With regards to filling the all of the slots, I suggest you fill all the slots, but be sure that it does not go over its maximum RAM limit; it will not work if it goes over. Your laptop may support multi-channel memory so its better to fill all the slots because it will improve the laptops performance than having only one slot.
