You first of all need to check CD-Rom’s connection to your Pc using device manager of your operating system. Go to device manager and scan for any possible hardware changes, if it detects any new hardware then probably it would be a CD-Rom but if it won’t detect anything or detects other uninstalled hardware. Then you have to do something else.

Check if your CD-Rom is powered on, blinking CD-Rom light will indicate that CD-Rom is on. If it is on then open your computer’s case and unplug CD-Rom’s data cable and then plug it again carefully and if light isn’t even blinking then check both data and power cable. Remove both cables and plug them again, also check data cable’s connection to the motherboard.

Hope this helps!

Hi friend,

Please check your CD ROM cable first. Both its power cable and data cable must be connected well.  Just check these connections. Unplug them and plug in again. Then see what happens. If it is not working then try another process.

Other option is to change CD ROM data cable. May be it is damaged or one cable of it is broken. So change them and use other or new CD ROM data cable. May be one or more than one pin of it has been broken so new CD ROM data cable is better option.

Other option is to search for new hardware from windows. For this go to control panel then click on add hardware.

Then select category and click on add. It will automatically install CD ROM driver software.
