Cannot Transfer Files Using AppleTalk

I'm trying to transfer a file over the ethernet cable using AppleTalk. But for some reason, it just didn't work. When I go to Control Panel => Apple Talk ==> and try to choose Ethernet, I get an error message: Error occured when attempt to use ethernet, make sure network connections are correct. What can I do with this problem I'm having?

If you are not using either Router or Switch, it would require a cross-over cable. Unlike a straight cable or a simple Ethernet cable which just gives a mouth to mouth connection, it is a special cable wherein it connects one computer’s “ear” to the other one’s “mouth”.

Apple has lists of Mac models that require the use of this kind of cable and which can use just a standard one when connecting to another Apple product.  But you have to make sure also you get the right kind of cable to use for the connection.

Hope this helps!
