I set my computer in SAFE MODE, and I encountered this relevant knowledge virus: rlvknlg.exe virus, which was explained in https://www.file.net/process/rlvknlg.exe.html. I manually deleted it, which was located in directory C:/Program Files, without touching any other files in it. After doing so, I fixed the registry issues and cleaned my hard drive using the CCleaner. I was happy because my computer no longer freezes, all the processes are good, but 3 minutes after, boot windows freezes. I can still use the shortcut on my desktop though, but I cannot open files; in addition, my computer continuously freezes. Kindly help me fix this problem; my computer is very important, and I want the performance of my computer to go back as it were. Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

The virus may not have only infected that one file, but also some other files in your especially your system files which most likely is causing the freezing problem. It is best if you first try running a virus scan or a malware scan in your computer to try and minimize the damage. You can try using Malwarebytes Antimalware from here:

After you run a malware scan and cleaned the infection, observe the computer. If the problem persists, I suggest you backup your files, then reinstall your operating system to have a fresh installation.

Thank you. Hope it helps.

The file “rlvknlg.exe” belongs to a program called RelevantKnowledge. It is a MarketScore variant that tracks browsing habits and sends unsolicited advertisements. The program is bundled actually in many freeware utilities so that’s probably how it ended up with your computer. You should also be able to access the program in the “Add or Remove Programs” in the Control Panel.

Now, the problem happened because you simply deleted the file without uninstalling it from the Control Panel. That started the problems on your machine because the program is no longer complete that’s why your machine frequently freezes. It is not recommended to install the program back because it is very suspicious. It is identified as an undesirable program.

Since the program is now incomplete, you need to remove the remaining components of the application because it will continuously give problems to your computer. Download the trial version of Revo Uninstaller Pro and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then click “Forced Uninstall.” On the next screen, click “Browse for” and then select “Folder.”

Revo Uninstaller browse folder

Navigate to the installation folder of “rlvknlg.exe” then click “Next.” Follow the instructions. To make sure your computer is not infected with any other malware caused by the program, download Sophos Virus Removal Tool and scan your computer.
