Hello. I have MS OneNote 2007 installed on my Windows Vista PC. I added it to my tool box and then try to run it but I got an error when using the "Insert at Cursor" option while inserting capture. The error is:

An Error Has Occurred

The OneNote 2007 accessory could not continue because of an error. Please try again. If this error continues please consult support.

OK other options as it is all working correctly. I tried this on both my Windows XP and this computer that I am using right now with SnagIt 8.2.3 and MS OneNote 2007 version 12.0.4518.1014. How can I fix this? Please send me some help. Thanks.

I will suggest that you close all instances being run by the OneNote application on your computer and then restart it and see if that will solve the problem. Do the following:

  • On your keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+Del
  • Click on Task Manager in the window that will come up.
  • The task manager window will open.
  • You will need to click on the process tab in the task manager window.
  • Thereafter, you will need to look through all the processes and identify all processes being run by OneNote.
  • End the all.
  • Close task manager and then restart the computer.
  • See if it works after that.

My suggestion is to first restart your computer. Go to task manager of the status bar, go to the process tab in the task window and then identify which processes are running by OneNote. End them all. After ending all the processes, restart the computer. Some more solutions are given below.

i) You can fix this problem by safe booting. You have to go the safe boot switch.

Start > Run > OneNote > safe boot.

Then the troubleshooting option will be displayed. You can customize user settings and will be able to reset OneNote back to default setting.

ii) You can also fix this problem by deleting Cache. To find Cache, go to the C:Users[username]AppDataLocalMicrosoftOneNote12.0 folder if you are a Vista user.  For Windows XP, go to the C:Documents and Settings[username]application datalocalMicrosoftOneNote12.0 folder. For 2010, change “14” instead of “12”

iii) You can also fix this problem by renaming OneNote Offline Cache.
