Cannot activate imessage and Facetime after update to 7.1.2

I have updated my Iphone 5S to iOS 7.1.2 and since then I'm not able to activate iMessages and Facetime. I only get a message saying 'Waiting for activation'. I reset all settings and tried to activate it again, same thing. How do I fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Garrick, if you have issues with FaceTime, try to verify that FaceTime is enabled in the Preferences. If you encounter the message waiting for activation, try to deactivate FaceTime or iMessage and from the settings go to messages and settings and then click FaceTime. Also make sure that FaceTime and iMessage isn’t disabled, so from the Settings of your phone, go to General then click Restrictions and finally tap FaceTime or iMessages.
