I have a PS1 and PS2 and use the PS1 sparingly and was thinking if I can use this to watch movies? Is this possible and if yes I would like to know all information about it
The PS1 is capable of playing movies, but only in VCD. DVDs will never play on it, as the PS1 codecs are limited to playing VCDs only. You simply need VCDs to be inserted to the PS1, and navigate the menu using the controller, and you will be able to play the movies. As for movies burned onto the CD, it is possible to have those played as well. However, the file formats that the PS1 can play is limited to .STR, .MOV, and .IKI formats and can only play videos with 320×240 resolution. For the media player on your PS1, you can download "Playstation Media Player". There are forums that provide links to downloads.
