Can we run MS Outlook as a remote application in Windows 7?

I want to set up an .rdp file to run Outlook. But I don’t want to install Outlook on my laptop. Is it possible?

You can set Outlook so you can access your email through the internet without any special device or application.

This feature is Outlook Anywhere.

You need to get the url of your exchange server, if it's using SSL as a security feature and if you use a proxy server.

These information you can get from your server administrator if you're connecting to an exchange server.

Once you have all this information, follow these steps ( applies only to windows XP with service pack 2 or higher )

  1. Click on Tools > Account settings on your Outlook
  2. Select the Exchange account then go to the Connections tab
  3. Look for Outlook Anywhere and place a check on the box beside "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP"
  4. To specify the proxy settings you got from your administrator, look for Exchange Proxy Settings
  5. Type the url provided by your administrator
  6. If applicable, select Connect Using SSL only ( verify with your administrator )
  7. Also if applicable, enter the proxy server name after msstd: ( again verify with your administrator )
Connect Using SSL only

Hope this helps!
