Hi. Many methods are available to block websites like adding websites to host file or using web browser settings or whatever. But there is a problem with them as any one can undo these changes having little knowledge of it. I want some special method like DSL Router to block entire websites. Is it possible? Some guidance is required please.

Hi Kaitlynnnatasha

Blocking  website through your home router is easy but technically it is tricky.First of all let me know your router specification.

1. Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser adrress bar.

2. There will be a window saying user name and password.Type default "admin" as username and password.

3. On main menu, go to Restriction list and add the url or name of the website you want to restrict.

Hope this will work for you.

Thanx

Hello Kaitlyn,  the easiest way would be to just use your routers built in software.

1. Start windows command prompt

2. Type ipconfig

3. Check the series of numbers after the default gateway.( These will commonly be 192.168.1.1)

4. Then open your internet browser and type those numbers.

5. The password for the router should be defaulted as "admin" and "password"

6. From there navigate to the proper settings to block a site by URL.
