How to stop automatic updates on Windows XP

I am using operating system windows XP (service pack 2).

Every few minutes it prompts me to upgrade.

I cannot stop it.

Can you  tell me how can I can stop automatic upgrades?

If you want to turn off you automatic updates just follow these three steps

  • First is you have to click the start button, then point the mouse cursor to Run, then just type sysdm.cpl, then just press Enter, Now click the Automatic updates tab, then turn off the Automatic Updates. Then just click OK.

If you just want to pause or resume downloading these updates, here’s how

  • During the downloading process, click the icon displayed in the notifications area, and click pause, when you are ready to resume the updates  click resume.
