I installed one software and mistakenly place its location folder on my desktop.

I find my desktop not presentable because of the folders of that certain software scattering in the desktop.

Can I copy all of its folders and move it somewhere else without affecting the software’s functions? I have a Windows 7 OS.

Yes dear Stephen, you can copy all of the scattered folders in one place but there is a risk also in this because may be there are some important files of that software which you lost while copying the software so the solution for you is written below:

  1. You can go to that specified folder where you want to place that all files
  2. Now create a new folder there with the name which you want to give that file
  3. Now go again to the desktop and then copy all scattered files at a time or you can copy it one by one also
  4. After copying those files go to that specified folder and then paste there al files
  5. No you can run that software easily and enjoy the results.
  6. If that file not works then you can right click on that folder and then convert it in a .rar file.
  7. Then starts running that program again it will surely works

Make sure that you copy and pasted all scattered files because if any one of them is missing it creates a problem for you.

Good day Stephen,

You mentioned that mistakenly you got your software installed on the desktop. Now the problem is, you find your desktop un-presentable due to so many folders scattered around. The solution to your problem is here. Keep in find that as long as the software is installed in the same directory or drive in which OS is installed, you can certainly move your folders around. So it is possible to move your software from the desktop by selecting all files and folders and then copying them into the “program files” folder in the drive in which your OS is installed. Your software would remain unaffected.

Thank you.

That problem may happen if you changed the installation path at the start of the installation and accidentally pointing it to “C:\Users\[username]\Desktop”. This is the default folder or path for your desktop screen. Anything you place in this folder will appear on your desktop screen. If you accidentally did this, you cannot move the folder to another location without causing problems to the program.

To fix the problem, just uninstall and reinstall that particular software and don’t change the installation path in the beginning. Install it in the default path. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo then select the software among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process.

When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, exit Revo then install the program back. This should fix the problem.
