Hi there! Here is how to lock Internet Explorer on your PC. The procedure is different for various versions of IE 9 and below and IE 10 and above.

If you are using IE 9 or below, follow these steps:

Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools->Internet options.

Click on the tab labeled “Content” and choose to ‘Enable.’

This action opens a window named “Content Advisor,” as shown. On this window, you will find the “General tab.” Select the shown choices and hit the OK button. You can also go to the “Ratings” tab to control what you can access from the web.

Now, you will be asked to create a supervisor password. Set the password and you are good to go!

For Internet Explorer 10 and further, follow these steps:

Press the Windows key and R key at once. This opens the run command box. You can also get it from the Start menu. Type in the following command.

Here, this is how the Content Advisor is opened. Choose the “General” tab and set the supervisor password.

Also, if you want to lock IE entirely, you can seek the help of a third-party parental controller. It might cost you some bucks, but they are worth it.

You can also change the permissions on “iexplorer.exe.” In this case, only the local admin can access the web browser.
