Brief on FSMO roles in active directory

qa-featured

FSMO stands for a flexible single domain controller. Active directory is known for maintaining a writable copy of its domain, and FSMO is part of it. The active directory has 5 FSMO roles.

1) Scheme master

2) Domain naming master

3) Relative domain controller

4)Primary domain controller

5) Infrastructure master

They all are designed as the domain controller, and for transferring, it requires both the source domain controller and the target domain controller.
