Hi,

There are lot of open source software you will find for Linux but very few to use easily.

Transmageddon is the easiest to use among them and You will find in Ubuntu Software Centre.

It is a video transcoder built for linux by using GStreamer. Just give the input and take the output in any format you want.

Its is made for the people to create the files in any format and to achieve their goals.

Common files of video which are supported to other format are AVI, FLV, MP3, MPEG4, Vorbis and QUICK TIME etc.
