Backed Up To iCloud Data Gone?

I backed up my MacBook to my  iCloud account. When I went back to restore my machine there was folders showing. But all the folders are empty. Where did my files go and how can I get them back to my MacBook? Did I just lose everything or can this be fixed?

Backed Up To iCloud Data Gone?

There are 3 explanations as to why your back up folder is empty:

1. Either you did not successfully complete the back up process to icloud

2. You might be using an iOS of an earlier version compared to the one you used to back up. Update it to the latest version and try restoring again

3. You might have created the back up with a different account hence you will be required to sign in with that account in order to restore
