Personally, cloud computing requires a stable Internet connection, when there is no reliable Internet connection you can not expect to get the most of it. This can particularly be a hindrance for those living in remote areas without access to a reliable connection.

Of the most negative disadvantages of cloud computing is, when a data center  crashes all the virtual machines will be affected. This can be prevented by backing up your data on a regular basis and using the so-called fail over or clustering though.

Another worst scenario is that  if a parent server becomes a target in a an infiltration attack then the intruders will most likely be able to gain access to virtual servers using data stored on the parent server.

It also can be slow. Even on a fast connection, web-based applications can sometimes be slower than accessing a similar software program on your desktop PC. Everything about the program, from the interface to the current document, has to be sent back and forth from your computer to the computers in the cloud. If the cloud servers happen to be backed up at that moment, or if the Internet is having a slow day, you won't get the instantaneous access you might expect from desktop apps.

IMHO, I would not entrust all my important personal files to a cloud computing server. I'd just go from my small files like documents which I can access from the print anywhere using cloud printing like the one from Google.

Cloud computing is more popular today rather than it was first introduced way back in 1960's. This features has different layers once Internet connection are established in client, application, platform, infrastructure and servers.

These layers has it's own usage and capacity of protecting data. It has this designed that is very secure and it is hard to manipulate it, as of now.

It categorized security according to it's threat. It segregate data access, privacy, bugs, accountability, account control and managing console security. It sustain data according to what it is saved in the iCloud.
