AVG IS Antivirus Installation Problem

Please help me with my problem installing AVG Internet Security. I have been using AVG Free for many years and now have decided to purchase a 2-year license of AVG IS 2012. So I uninstalled the free version and installed the new one, but I get the following error after I enter the license #:

Severity: Error
Error code: 0xC0070643
Error message: General internal error.
Additional message: MSI Engine: Failed to install the product.
@AVGMSI_Error 1402
(0xC007057A)
Context: AVG product installation, MSI action failed

I have tried everything. I have downloaded all Windows updates and am logged on my computer as administrator. I even disabled Microsoft virus program and firewall, but none of them worked.

I hope there's someone that can help me get it running.

AVG IS Antivirus Installation Problem

Hi James Payton,

I searched possible solution that may help you solve your problem. Just try to uninstall the old version of AVG, reboot first then install the new one.

Uninstalling:

1. Click start Button.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Go to add or remove program and select the AVG.
4. Click uninstall.
5. Finally you can now install your new AVG antivirus.

Hello James,

Thanks for sharing your problem with us.

My dear it seems that your computer has many viruses already in it.

When some viruses are available in your computer then these viruses will not allow any antivirus to be installed in your computer.

MSI installation engine is out of order in your computer or maybe of your installation package.

Kindly delete all temporary files from your computer then restart it.

Scan your computer with "Panda Anti Virus" because it provides a facility to scan your hard disk without installation of antivirus.

It scans your computer during installation.

After this scan, restart computer and install your AVG Antivirus again.

You will be succeed.
