Greetings to all, please allow me to share my experience in using ArcGIS desktop, while at work on a the data gathered, when I am about to update some files, I meet an error that Authorization request for EVA845979889 cannot be completed.

7174: Authorization request for EVA845979889 cannot be completed.

7174: Authorization request for EVA845979889 cannot be completed.

Please contact ESRI Customer Service or your local ESRI distributor.

As I understand on the above error, I don't have the rights to change something on the file, that is why I checked on my login, I don't have any restriction to any files since I am using administrator rights, and no one is using the file as of that moment, please share some ideas on my issue,

Thanks a lot.

Dear Stevecanry,

Are you having a registration number – EVAxxxxxxxxx, or ESUxxxxxxxxx? You will pre-register the registration number and create a global account for yourself with ESRI at this site:

This site will assign the registration number to you and allows you to request technical support if needed. Once done, you should be able to complete the 'Authorization' from the ArcGIS Administrator app entering the now assigned registration number.

If you downloaded the 60 day evaluation and ESRI sent your registration number, there may be a problem with the assignment of the registration number. It may be already used for another registration / activation or the number was incorrectly generated by ESRI. In that case you will need to contact ESRI customer service.

Take Care.

Stephy

Hello Steve,

You are getting that error because the evaluation authorization numbers of the release of ArcGIS that you are using must be activated prior to authorizing software within the ArcGIS Administrator, and you might have not done that. To work around that issue, you will need to do the following:

For an ArcInfo Single Use 365 day Evaluation you will need to:

  • Go to http://www.esri.com/software/landing_pages/arcgis/desktop-ed and then click the "Activate Now" button.
  • After that you will login using your Esri Global Account,
  • And then enter EVAXXXXXXXXX number and after that click the "Submit" button.
  • You will then need to follow authorization instructions for ArcGIS Desktop Single Use.

Regards,

Carl
