I am getting this error on my Sony Xperia mobile phone: "The application home screen ( process com.sonyericsson.homescreen) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close.” How can I troubleshoot it?

The Application Home Screen Stopped on Xperia

The problem started when I added the Application while restoring to the previous settings. After restoring my phone, it goes well. However, after restoring my downloaded applications and then turned off my phone, it still has the same issue when I opened it. I am really surprised that no one is doing something to fix this.

Anyway, on the recent updates, I already completed it with all my applications. And Google or the App Creator removed the application that I've got through the restore option on my phone. The problem really was on the application itself and also, I used AppBrain online to register and download the apps from the market and sync it to my phone. You can still install the application one by one.

The Application Home Screen Stopped on Xperia

I have tried to repair (through PC companion and also thru SE update service) but every time this problem starts to come up. Since 2.1 update from SE, there is a new lock screen which has been brought in. After reset or a repair, within a short span of time, when I get an incoming call, the screen goes blank for a few seconds and I get the above error. The problem stems from including Applications when I Restore my previous settings, when I restored my downloaded Applications and turned my phone off the same problem came back.

As the problem was applied based so I will follow a system. You have a possibility software issue which may require a software repair via PC Companion to resolve. However if you are able to get into the menu please follow the below steps to potentially resolve this:

Main Menu > Settings > Applications > Manager Applications > Menu Button > Filter > All > Sony Ericsson Home > Clear Data.

This will reset the home screen ( process com.sonyericsson.homescreen) to default and likely resolve the issue.
