All about hard drive test utility Ubuntu. I got a Linux operating system for my dell desktop computer and I just want to know how will I get some test utility for my hard drive. I just need some information about this matter and I hope you can explain and discuss it with me. Thank you.
Hard Disks have a built in test utility called SMART. This automatically and continuously checks for hard disk problems and warns if hard disk is going to fail. To check your disks status Click on Disk utility in the top left corner of the screen, then select the hard drive from the storage devices list, Disks information and its status will be displayed under the drive. To see details of the tests applied click on SMART data button located below status.
Recent HDD has their own/built-in SMART used to check its performance and capacity. Monitoring HDD can be personally performed by users. In Ubuntu SMART system can assess your HDD through the
Use of the <Disk Utility GUI> under System Administration menu to check whether SMART system is enabled in Hard Disk;
Under <Drive> is SMART Data which views the features of Hard Disk and runs <Self-Test> on the Hard Disk
<Attributes> section makes you see the error
