AIM instant messenger error 0x8000FFFF

Hello,

I have been using AIM instant messenger on my system and it was working perfectly but just yesterday I was not able to chat anymore. The following message appeared on my screen:

AIM error:

The AIM service could not send the message: [hresult

0x8000FFFF]

 

                                                             OK

 

I have searched a lot for this kind of an error on the web but found no solution.

Has anyone else also encountered such a problem?

Do let me know if you have a solution to my query as I am at my wits end now.

Hello Aron,

• Go to the iChat Menu, and then choose Preferences.
• Choose Accounts and then choose Server settings for your @me.com account.
• Change the port from 5190 to 443

Make sure that you are logged on as the administrator before you go ahead and do the above.

Hi,

Yeah I have seen this Problem.

It is usually caused by the other things that might be happening in your chat with the list of your buddies.

That is also on port 5190 and the UDP protocol.

You can try changing your port to 443 and use macjanitor and see if that helps.

It should solve the problem.
