Advent 7110 laptop and BIOS issues

I have the Advent 7110 laptop (Intel i915GM chipset) and I think someone must have set a password on BIOS, because every time I start up my PC a popup appears and wants me to input the password.

But I don't know it! Is there a way to clear this password?

Dear Helenmarmstead,

If you can use your pc then it shouldn’t cause any trouble. If you cannot then the following tricks should be useful-

i) There is a battery under all the covers. Pull it out for 10 minutes disconnecting power in your laptop. Then it will forget the password.

ii) Below the button cover (plastic cover over power button etc) there Should be  sw1 4 switches ,
put them all to on the power laptop then off again put switches back to what they were then on again and you can forget the bios password.
