Is a Chromebook a good choice for a kid’s first laptop?

I would like to buy my son, aged 12, his first laptop computer. I was browsing around and I stumbled on an Acer and a Dell Chromebooks. I am not sure I understand how they work. But I wanted to know if a Chromebok would be suitable as a first laptop.

Is it really different from a regular Windows OS? Is it customable? Does it offer tools to protect and monitor a minor’s online activity?

Hi sloan. Basically in chrome book the only good thing you can do is using internet . But if you want your son to learn something laptop will be obviously better than chrome book. Your son can learn many software uses as well as their interface. And also other thing is that most people who are using this things,  used as netbooks and this books are similar to those things
