Hi,

The maximum transmit rate of 802.11ac is up to 6Ghz. It has 10 percent transmit gain from 802.11n at has wider channels of up to 160Mhz. Although it is still under development, it is said to be common by 2012 with an estimated 1 billion spread around the world. In addition to the details, the 802.11ac supports single-link and multi-station enhancements which allows new scenarios for WLAN usage which includes: faster transfer rate of large files over the network, streaming of HD video simultaneously to multiple clients,  deployment of wireless frequency in a large area such as schools or office and a faster transmission for wireless display. The concept will later be succeeded by IEEE 802.11ad. Faster Connection, Wider Range and more stable access to the internet.

Hope This Helps
